Why I won’t show my kid’s face online

I grew up without the internet and went several years without being on social media so when I download Tiktok this summer at a Great Ohio Coaster at Kennywood. I watched a lot of different creators online where people had kids and most of them showed their children’s face in a discreet and innocent way, I noticed some kids were acting very performative and some of them were doing things that were suggestive and inappropriate. I observed the amount of follows, comments and likes that these video were getting and after careful research came to the conclusion I will not show my children’s face online.

  1. Children who have been shoved into the spotlight do not understand the consequences
  2. Some adults are perverts and even if it’s a small risk it’s not worth it for me
  3. I do not want my kids to behave in a performative way I want their joy to remain organic
  4. When they are adults they will be able to understand the live they want and make that choice on their own
  5. I still capture videos of them for our home footage
  6. I can still capture their joy without showing their face

I understand this can be a divisive topic that causes a lot of people to be upset and angry. This choice is mine and it is a reflection of who I am as a parent who is intentional.
